Dangerous Consumer Products

When you purchase a product from the store, you have the right to reasonably assume that it will not cause harm to your or to a member of your family. Sadly, dangerous products do exist, and often their hazardous nature is not known until someone is harmed in an unfortunate accident.

Common Dangerous Consumer Products

Examples of dangerous consumer products that may present a risk of burns and other injuries by fires or explosions may include:

  • Toys. Some toys may malfunction to cause burns or may even become a fire hazard. Parents and other adults should choose toys carefully and read all warning labels before purchasing toys for their children.
  • Heating products. Curling irons, hair dryers, and irons may cause serious burns. If left plugged in or turned on for an extended period of time, they may even cause fire damage.
  • Household chemicals. Household chemicals may be incorrectly labeled and fail to warn consumers about the dangers of injury, toxic gases, and explosions if used incorrectly or mixed with other chemicals. Some of these products may be distributed in inferior packaging that leaks or ruptures and can cause serious injury.

Other products may become dangerous if used incorrectly or exposed to flame or heat. It is important to understand the risks associated with different consumer products and take steps to keep yourself and your family safe.
