Fire Warning Systems
When you visit a commercial property or a public building, you have the right to assume that your safety is not in jeopardy. Sadly, this is not always the case. Many building owners do not take adequate precautions to ensure that their occupants or residents are safe from the risks of fires and other dangers. It is important that all buildings have appropriate fire warning systems to help occupants understand when danger is present and have time to evacuate the building.
Fire Alarms
Public and commercial buildings are required to have adequate fire safety systems installed to warn occupants and alert fire departments of danger. There are two general types of fire alarm systems that are commonly installed:
- Automatic alarms. These alarms are set off automatically when the system detects the presence of fire.
- Manual alarms. These alarms must be manually operated by an individual who detects the presence of a fire.
Depending on the type of building and its particular fire risks, different fire alarm systems may be in place. It is the responsibility of the building owner to ensure that these alarms provide adequate warnings to occupants in the event of a fire.
