Posted on May 5th, 2010 No Comments

Firefighters battled a two-alarm explosion at a  San Antonio fuel refinery after a truck near the loading doc, exploded injuring at least one person.

A large cloud of dark smoke loomed over the area as firefighters went door-to-door to warn residents to stay at least a mile away. Officials said that the tanker on the truck blew up but the cause of the explosion is unknown at this point. The injured person is said the have suffered burns in the fire, other workers have complained of chest pains.

This company serves the U.S. Air Force and handles jet fuel and diesel. Firefighters were concerned about nearby fuel supplies and their proximity to the fires.

Workplace explosions are very traumatic for all who are involved. Our thoughts are with the family of the injured workers.
