Three-alarm fire at Newark refinery

Posted on May 26th, 2010 No Comments

There was a three-alarm fire at the Evergreen Oil Refinery in Newark and it burned for over 90 minutes before firefighters were able to extinguish it.

More than 60 firefighters, from the Fremont and Union City, were called to fight the fire. The fire was in the plant’s five-story heater stack and did not require the plant to be shut down, according to officials.

Officials said that the fire was caused by a petroleum-based fluid caught fire in the stack. There have been no updates on serious injury in the fire.
