Fuel tank explodes near airport in Monroe County

Two people were injured after a fuel tank exploded near the Rochester International Airport.

Officials have said that the cause of the accident is still under investigation but it is known that the 24-year-old man was driving the truck received second-degree burns to his hands and face in the accident and that a 20-year-old employee was also injured. The 24-year-old man is said to be in stable condition.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. but was extinguished shortly after. Air traffic was suspended for an hour and areas of the airport and other local businesses were evacuated after the explosion.
