Explosion in apartment building causes fire, but no injuries

Posted on August 30th, 2011 No Comments

Twenty-one people in Sterling were  kicked out of their homes after an explosion occurred on the third floor of the apartment building.

There were no injuries in the fire, but the residential homes did receive damage. Most of the fire was extinguished by the sprinkler system, but the fire crews put out the rest of it.

A preliminary investigation showed that a gas leak from a water heater may have caused the explosion. Eleven apartment units were damaged as a result of the fire. The damage is valued at $300,000.
